Listenback privacy

Who this covers

Listenback is invite-only. Members sign in to projects they have been invited to. Listeners open a share link someone sent them and never need an account.

What members give us

Your email address, the name you choose, and a password. The password is stored only as a salted hash, never in readable form.

Whatever you put into a project: audio files and their versions, artwork, notes, comments, lyrics, chord charts, tags and set lists. It is visible to the other members of that project, and to anyone holding a share link a member creates.

A record of activity inside your projects (uploads, comments, plays), so collaborators can see what changed and what has been heard.

What we record about listeners on a share link

That the link was opened, which tracks were played and how far into each. Repeat visits are grouped by a random id kept in your browser's storage. It is not tied to your name, email or any account.

An approximate location (city, region, country) supplied by our hosting provider at the time of the request. We do not store IP addresses with these events.

The people who made the link can see these figures in aggregate. That is the point of them: knowing whether the music was heard.

Cookies and device storage

One sign-in session cookie, lasting up to 30 days. On iOS the same session is kept in the device Keychain. The app also stores playback preferences locally, and tracks you choose to download for offline listening stay on your device until you remove them or sign out.

Listenback has no advertising, no ad identifiers and no cross-app tracking.

Where it lives and who else touches it

Data and audio are stored with Cloudflare (database, file storage, hosting). Invitation and notification emails are sent through Resend.

Chord and lyric drafts are generated by models we run ourselves, on servers we operate or rent. Your audio is not sent to third-party AI services, and it is never used to train anyone else's models. Charts and lyrics that members correct may be used to improve our own in-house models.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it except with the providers above, who process it on our behalf, or where the law requires it.

Keeping and deleting

Project content stays until a member deletes it or the project is removed. Deleting a track removes its audio from our storage.

To delete your account and the personal information attached to it, email [email protected] from the address on the account. We will confirm and complete it within 30 days.
